Day 33: Srinagar to Jammu

Today we traveled down south through Kashmir – from Srinagar to Jammu past gorgeous vistas of mustard fields, and snow capped peaks of the Himalayas on the horizon.

Coming down the Himalayas we encountered a nomadic Gujjar group and their families with a herd of animals. We spotted a strange board that says “Shelter Shed for Nomadic Graziers”.

Security absolutely tight on this stretch of the trip, and even stopping the car on the road invites a question from the security forces.

We were also surprised to come across a small temple run by the Sankaracharya Mutt of Tamil Nadu. The temple was also guarded by the Indian army, which also had a small post in the premises!
