We left Chilka very early and drove to Bhubaneshwar en route to Kolkata in West Bengal. The drive was on an excellent National Highway. In fact, the roads are quite good in Orissa. But there are many towns on this highway and the traffic is dense with a high amount of truck and cargo-container traffic. On entering West Bengal, the roads got bad, and most road signs are missing. Even the toll booths along the way look like dungeons that have never been cleaned!

After Orissa and all the other places we’ve been so far, the roads in West Bengal were clearly the worst!
