At the India-Pakistan border, is Ferozepur city with its beautiful wetlands, the Harike waterworks and barrage. Known for the role it played in the history of India, Ferozpur witnessed the Anglo-Sikh wars and many an important battles during the freedom movement. Three heroic martyrs. Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his associates Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev have their final resting place on the banks of the river Sutlej in Ferozepur. Today, numerous memorials of India’s freedom fighters and other monuments in and around Ferozepur that pay tribute to the sacrifice of the martyrs are reflective of this rich history.
