Situated on an isolated ridge in the Shiwalik hills, overlooking abundant green woodlands, is the well laid-out town of Nahan. Lined with a variety of trees, shrubs, wildflowers and ferns, it is known for its cleanliness and dust free streets. In its harmony with nature, the town lives up to its name- the root of the name, Nahar, translates to ‘don’t kill’.
The social life of the residents of Nahan is centered on the indispensable evening walk, either in the market or at The Mall, which also serves as a time to meet and visit friends. The gently level walks of Villa Round, Military Round and Hospital Round are reminiscent of the city’s past.
