Kerala

44 rivers, a vast network of lakes and a labyrinthine of canals connect to make the picturesque backwater village of Chennamkary. One of its most unique attributes is the total absence of roads, as a result of which bicycles, canoes and other boats are enough to help people get around. Like the rest of the backwaters, this is a self- supporting eco-system that is teeming with aquatic life and over 300 species of birds.

From waking up and going to bed to the sounds of nature and singing traditional Malayalam songs with canoe riders to socializing with the village folk over freshly brewed Toddy, this village offers many rare experiences. Equally exciting is the opportunity to witness how the locals use different plants, trees and flowers for different purposes.
