Day 38: Dholavira to Porbandar

1 Posted by - April 22, 2014 - Culture, Environment, Rearview Mirror

Our day started with a an exhaustive early morning visit to the Dholavira Harappan Civilization Archaeological Site. After a complete tour of the site in extremely hot weather, we drove through the Kutchi heartland and we had the famous dabeli for breakfast.

Once on the main road, the development in Gujarat is visible once you enter the state. The roads are good. There are industries for miles on end on both sides of the highway. Mechanised salt production units alongside the salt pans with mountains of salt and automatic conveyor loaders are seen.

We drove through Rajkot Morbi to reach Porbandar in time for the evening aarti at the Shri Hari Mandir. We then checked into the guest house of the Shri Hari Mandir at Sandipani, and then had a “sathvik” dinner at the guest house which sports a clean and spiritual environment.
