Built on seven hills on the shoreline at the southern tip of mainland India, is Trivandrum. Not only is it the political center of Kerela, it is also a major academic hub, with several educational institutions and science and technology institutions to boast of. With the establishment of Technopark it has also steadily grown as a competitive IT centre.

While it may come across as laid back and quiet, the city hosts numerous cultural activities that make it come alive during the festival season of Onam. There are also several renowned places that offer training in Kerala’s indigenous martial art, the Kalaripayattu and traditional arts including Kathakali.
