KOHIMA
Nagaland
Kohima is a beautiful city, its scenic hilly terrain dotted with houses with cloud-kissed slanting roofs. Here, the calm mornings offer an opportunity to meet the hospitable and proud Nagas while enjoying the best pineapples in the country. The silent evenings provide a peak into their understated fear of the gun and uncertainty about the future.
In 1944, Kohima was the battleground where hundreds of British and Indian soldiers laid down their lives while pushing back the Japanese army during World War II. Today the Kohima cemetery stands as a quiet tribute to them.
