Once a calm fishing village clustered around three adjacent crescent beaches, Kovalam is now a fine beach town by the Arabian Sea. This beautiful bay of calm waters is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes and catamaran cruising opportunities that it provides. Life here begins late in the day and carries on well into the night as visitors return with a blush of coppery tan and memories of a gorgeous sunset.
The beach complex includes several upmarket resorts, a string of budget cottages, health resorts, shopping zones and swimming pools.
