Large Blog ImageCHILKA

Odisha

Nestled in the heart of Coastal Puri, is Asia’s largest natural brackish water lagoon. The pear-shaped lake spreads across 1100 sq. km, and has a unique ecosystem with an astonishing variety of aquatic flora and fauna. Equally impressive is its display of indigenous and migratory birds that come here from as far as distant Siberia.

Chilka’s blue expanse of water is dotted with a host of islands with romantic names. The evergreen range of hills on its other side lends a serene tone to the region.
