Resting in the vast Gangetic plains of North, Rae Bareli is a serene and calm city located in the heartland of the famous Awadh region which was part of the ancient Koshala kingdom. It is nationally branded as the political bastion of the Nehru-Gandhi Nationalist family.
In the past, the town was an important center of trade, and Muslin and Cotton weaving. Today it has thriving telecom, railways, cement, and power industries to boot. Attempts have started being made to restore its ecological balance.
Nickname: Awadhi cuisine with elaborate dishes like kebabs, kormas, biryani, zarda, sheermal, roomali rotis.
